Invisalign
Invisalign® clear aligners are a custom made series of virtually invisible, smooth, comfortable removable aligners that no one can tell you’re wearing. This means you can smile more during treatment as well as after. Invisalign is made with 3D computer imaging technology and has been proven clinically effective at treating most malocclusions.
Invisalign can be used for simple cases to the most complex cases.
Straightening your teeth can be a life changing decision that affects not only your appearance, but also your lifestyle as well. As an adult, you may be wanting to improve your smile for business or social reasons, or maybe that special occasion like your wedding day. Maybe you’re a teen or the parent of a teen looking at giving your teen confidence from having a smile.
Invisalign® and Invisalign Teen® can provide a simple way to accomplish this without having to put your life on hold.
What you need to know about the Invisalign® System
What is the Invisalign System?
How does the Invisalign System work?
- Initially, your Invisalign-trained doctor will take photos, X-rays, and digital scans or a dental impression to help create your treatment plan.
- Align Technology, the creator of Invisalign clear aligners, will then use these records, along with the treatment prescribed by your doctor, to create a customised treatment plan just for you. With the treatment plan, you’ll be able to see the final position your teeth are predicted to reach after treatment. This treatment plan is used to develop your customised aligners and estimate the likely length of your treatment.
- The customised aligners will be manufactured and shipped to your doctor’s practice.
- Your series of custom-made aligners will be given to you (typically 3-4 sets at a time) for you to wear everyday for a recommended 20-22 hours a day and change them at home approximately every 7 to 10 days depending on your doctor’s preference.
- Your Invisalign-trained doctor will set regular set 6-8week intervals for you to revisit their practice and monitor the progress of your treatment. They may also integrate virtual monitoring options with you adding the ability for you to and the doctor to evaluate your progress more regularly before each aligner change.
- After you’ve finished your Invisalign aligner treatment, you may need to use retainers to help make sure the new position of your teeth is maintained.

Treatable cases
Gapped Teeth
This occurs when there is considerable space between at least two of your teeth, which could potentially lead to gum problems.
Crossbite
This can occur when the upper and lower jaws are both misaligned, which could potentially lead to tooth wear and tear.
Overbite
This occurs when the upper teeth bite over the lower teeth, where upper teeth fit inside of lower teeth.
Underbite
This occurs when the lower teeth protrude past the front teeth and can prevent normal function of your front teeth or molars.
Overcrowding
This occurs when there is simply a lack of room within your jaw for all your teeth to fit normally, which can lead to plaque accumulation.
Openbite
This is when your upper and lower teeth are unable to make physical contact when the jaws are closed, which could make chewing difficult.
